Rajiv Gandhi Park Located on the banks of the Krishna River, the commercial city of Vijayawada is noted for its remarkable beauty and sophistication. On the National Highway 9 of the state of Andhra Pradesh, this park is located at a position of gateway to the city of Vijayawada. Named after our former Prime Minister Shri Rajiv Gandhi, this park has been created and maintained by the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation.

Open from 2 pm to 9 pm, this park has a mini zoo with animals like crocodiles, varieties of deer, rabbits, species of birds, squirrels and other small animals. Hence it is an excellent spot of recreation and amusement for the children. The aquarium with different colorful fishes also attracts the children. This park also encloses an exclusive area of special interest. There are replicas of animals existing in the prehistoric era like the dinosaurs with an artificial background. It is built for the sole purpose of imparting knowledge and education and hence is called at the educative park.

Not only this the park has varieties of trees which are awe inspiring. These trees are mainly of horticultural importance. There are varieties of ornamental plants and algae, mushrooms, nuts and so on grown by dint of organic products. The park also has several stalls based on food processing and organic product manufacturing. This park has been filled with the fertile alluvium brought from the banks of the Krishna. So the growth of flora is of fine quality. Different flowering plants, herbs and bushy shrubs can be noticed here.

But the most important thing is the musical water fountain show which is performed from 7.30 to 8 pm. It will be a mesmerizing experience for any visitor to see the splashing of water drops with different shades and colors of lights keeping pace with the rhythm of the background music. The technicality is appreciable. The venue also include some sports like gun shooting, playpen, rock fall, jeep ride and even a mini train. Most importantly this park has been built with the sole aim of visitors’ recreation and refreshment; hence the entry charges are negligible. Therefore it could be suggested as an place of interest where people can spend the whole day having excellent experience with nature and adventure.
